Each year the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds an information night for businesses who have been nominated and wish to enter the annual Rhino Awards. This night is designed to take some of the mystery out of the process and to encourage all businesses to enter, save the date 30 June 2011.

Why enter?
- The Rhino awards publicly acknowledge, promote and reward business excellence
- Unlimited advantages from exposure as a winner
- Preparing an entry is a chance to review your business performance, identifying strengths and weaknesses and consider opportunities
Some basic principles:
- Free to enter
- Must be in the Dubbo Local Government Area
- Need to have been in operation for 12 months or more
- Baby Rhino: in operation for three to five years or more
- Open to registered apprentices/trainee
- Two categories: Less than 10 employees or 10 or ore Employees
The Rhinos are not:
- For a select “club” of businesses
- Only for Chamber members
- Difficult to enter
- Shrouded in secrecy - although the gala evening is...
Tips for a good entry:
- Treat this as a big sales pitch
- Don’t leave your entry until the last minute
- Remember the judges may not be familiar with your business or its products
- Tell us what makes you outstanding
- Give examples to demonstrate excellence
- Include supporting material - brochures, business plan, media articles
The judging panel:
- The judging panel consists of independent professionals who are experienced in small business operations
- There are at least two rounds of judging
- Questions will be weighted on importance
- Chamber members may visit your business to see how well it is presented
